It is the aim of ParaQuest
to make training courses informative and fun. Emphasis on our
relationship with other water users ( such as collision avoidance )
is intended to help us integrate into the established system adopted
by other sea users. It is hoped that rather than restrict our
operations, the knowledge gained will open up the available use for
our craft, save us money and improve our general image.
The topics covered include.

Background on standards,
legislation and the benefits of qualifications.

Equipment ( personal and
sport requirements - choice, quality and suppliers).

I.R.P.C.S - Where we fit,
anti-collision signals ( including VHF information).

Practical - a hands on
approach to the learning of useful techniques including, slow and
fast control, trim, ventilation, anchoring, emergency stop.

Rope work ( a simple five
knot approach and some useful advise

Maintenance - all kit
-
Charts - a simple
explanation of how they work ( including tides ) and how to use them.

Weather - what the
forecast means to us.

Emergencies - towing etc.
The order and depth of the
topics covered may be altered to suit individual needs and the
standard of training being undertaken.
HOW MUCH ?
For the RYA PW course a
there is a rate of £125 per person ( an additional charge of
£60 is made if you require the hire of a PWC (jet-ski ). We cover the
RYA syllabus and include full paperwork. We can take groups of up to
six for established riders wishing to qualify but for novices we
prefer one or two (maximum three). We also have a centre at Porthcawl
& Lydstep ( Tenby ) Please call for course availability. We run
courses whenever conditions are suitable, by appointment. Saturdays
are naturally popular and become booked, often well in advance. Weekdays are available at short notice.
